The 6th annual rockets writing contest awards took place today where fifty-four elementary students were celebrated! The runners up and winning titles were chosen by being scored by three judges consisting of retired teachers, librarians, and teachers from other districts.
This year there were four categories across three different grade bands including Illustrated Story, Short Story, Poetry, and Illustrated Historical Fiction.
Thank you to this year's sponsors including Anna Education Foundation, Edward Jones by Jason Christman, Wells Brothers Inc., PCI, Steve and Ted's Services, Noll-Fisher Inc, Fill My Cup, and Strands of Love. We also thank our friends of the contest including Shelby County Libraries, St. Jacob Lutheran Endowment Fund, and Edison State Community College.
First place winners include Clara Dagenfield, Nora Hoehne, Kooper Hoying, Emma Schulze, Mack Ahrens, Kaleb Ward, Sophia Haerr, Riley Williams, Jayda Branham, Cassidy Collins, and Hayden LeVan.
Runner-up winners include Valerie Heitman, Brynlee Shepherd, Camden Dagenfield, Grace Davidson, Skylar Ungericht, Lydia Lawson, and Isaiah Lawson.
