Anna FFA Members and Supporters
This year on March 20, the Anna FFA held their annual banquet. There were over 300 members and guests in attendance. The FFA develops and improves students’ leadership skills, personal goals, and future success in agricultural experience and education. This year the officer team put forth much effort to make the year run smoothly and keep the chapter organized. Everyone who participated and earned awards were recognized at the banquet.
As always our chapter did a fantastic job with the fruit sales. Members sold over $93,000 in selling fruit, nuts, beef jerky, barbecue, cheese, and raffle tickets for ½ a hog. Starting with the highest seller with $4,777 is Lindsay Thornhill. Following that was Aven Zimpfer with $4,703 and Joey Bruns sold $3,831. The next seven top sellers were Ava Pettit, Hayden Huelskamp, Vanessa Platfoot, Leah Meyer, Corrina Holtzapple, Josh Wells, and Jenna Wolters. The chapter also distributed over 2,000 pieces of fruit to the Anna Elementary and educated them on good nutrition.
The Star Greenhand Award is presented to the freshmen who have been involved with the FFA and have a strong future Supervised Agricultural Experience. The two awarded freshmen were Marin Argabright and Levi Hoying. Both have shown dedication and put forth effort throughout the whole year.
The Star Chapter Award went to Claire Brunson and Aven Zimpfer. This award was given for their outstanding participation in CDE’s and overall excellence in their SAE’s. These two members always show great commitment towards the Anna FFA Chapter.
Mike Stewart received the Honorary Degree for this year. He has done so much for our chapter over the past years. He is a lifetime member of the FFA Alumni and an active member in the Young Farmers Organization. He has been a tremendous supporter of the Anna FFA Chapter. This award is very well deserved and his contributions are greatly appreciated.
There were eight award recipients who were approved to receive their State Degree at the 2023 State Convention in May. Miranda Evans, Grant Carity, Cassidy Barr, Makayla Bruson, Avery Shoffner, Aaron Simpson, Blaine Simpson, and Tony Gehret. They worked diligently and put in many hours to earn this award. Congratulations to all!
Lauren Thornhill received her American Degree. Last year, she was president of our chapter and worked very hard to receive this award.
We had the honor of having Ohio FFA State President, Aubrey Schwartz, speak at our banquet. She taught everyone a great message on the importance of HOME. Aubrey visited our chapter a couple times throughout the year to help us with a service project and teach us the importance of FFA.
